The Certified Angus Beef ® brand is the original premium branded beef program, established by family farmers and ranchers in 1978 to provide a consistently high-quality product to consumers. 
* Beyond Angus: While all Certified Angus Beef comes from cattle with a predominantly black hide (a key indicator of Angus genetics), simply being “Angus” is not enough to qualify. Only about three in ten Angus cattle meet the brand’s specifications.
* Quality Focus: The brand’s mission is to ensure a superior eating experience through strict quality control, from the farm to the plate.
* Independent Verification: Independent, unbiased U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) graders are the ones who evaluate the beef to ensure it meets the brand’s standards, not the brand’s employees.
* High Grade: Beef must first meet the requirements for the top tier of USDA Choice or the even higher USDA Prime grade before being considered for the Certified Angus Beef brand, ensuring a high amount of marbling.
